Year 5 Have a Taste of Senior School Life
The Year 5s at Rendcomb College Junior School had a taste of Senior School life this week as they took part in a taster day to experience a number of classes and activities including Spanish, Art and Orienteering.
They started the day learning some basic Spanish and all about Spanish culture with Mr Toms, Head of Spanish, testing what they had learnt in a quiz at the end of the session.
Miss Holness, Head of Art and Photography, gave the pupils a taste of what to expect in Art, with a lesson on how to draw accurate portraits in pencil. There were some marvellous pieces created during the session – there are certainly some budding artists within the year group!
Finally, pupils tried their hand at Orienteering. They were asked to read a map and solve problems throughout the College
grounds to develop various skills while giving them a chance to learn their way around the College.
Rendcomb College Taster Days
Rendcomb College puts an emphasis on preparing pupils for their ‘next step’, giving them knowledge of what to expect in Senior School, Sixth Form and beyond as they progress through the school. We look to broaden their horizons and give each pupil the best opportunity possible to be successful in whatever they choose to move forward with.
In addition to taster days for our Junior School pupils, our Sixth Form also experience a taste of what’s to come when they spend a week living in Garden House, our on-site independent living house, which is used to prepare all Sixth Form students for university life and life after school.
