Mrs Amanda Brealy

Qualifications: BA (Hons) Film, Video, Photography and Animation; PGCE in Primary Education

Mrs Brealy has been involved at Rendcomb for over 20 years and has been involved in the Junior School since 2003 holding positions as Head of Junior School Drama, and teaching Art and PSHE along with being one of the school's Forest School Leaders.

Before qualifying as a teacher Mrs Brealy worked in children’s television as a researcher on hit show ‘Art Attack’ producing many of the art pieces you would have seen made.

Outside of school Mrs Brealy loves photography and arts and crafts. This often displays her other passions in bird-watching and
Geo-caching; an outdoor activity in which participants use a GPS to hide and seek small containers at specific locations all over the world.

The one thing she has fallen in love with at Rendcomb over the years is the fantastic setting and surroundings of the college with spectacular views and plenty to explore.

The Old Rectory has been a home-from-home for Rendcomb College students for over 50 years and as such has one of the most ornate interiors of the boarding houses.

“I love the character and homely feel of the Old Rectory. All of the original features like the fireplaces and bell pulls give it a very Downton Abbey feel.”

A typical evening in The Old Rectory involves prep followed by supper then free time for the boys to relax. The boys spend time playing chess, practicing the piano, going to the sports hall and watching movies and playing on the Xbox.

“We aim to provide a home-from-home for the boys. Being house parents for 14 years and involved in boarding for 24 years we have experience in knowing what it takes to make a boarding house feel like home.”

“You always know you’re doing a good job when they call you mum and dad by accident!”

FUN FACT: Mrs Brealy is responsible for decorating our 16ft Christmas tree every year!
