Lacrosse

This week saw the girls out in full force with midweek matches for the 1st, 2nd, U15A, U15B and U13 teams.

Rendcomb College 1st XII v St Bartholomew’s School

The 1st team took on a fiery and physical St Bartholomew’s. Our girls were raring to go and showed they meant business. They gained early possession and we had some quick goals for the score board.

The first half ended 7-0 following goals from Bella R, Emily S and Kieze F.  We made a couple of positional switches in the centre and gained the majority of the draws. The opposition were more determined in the second half putting some pressure on our defence. Excellent communication and fantastic discipline from the Rendcomb side meant nothing was getting through. Goalkeeper Mia really kept the opponents at bay. Anna F and Emily M joined our list of goal-scorers.

With more team work and excellent play, Rendcomb put a further 4 goals on the board. The match ended 11-2 to Rendcomb.

Rendcomb College U13 v King’s School Gloucester

The U13 team played away at Malvern St James. The opponents came out of the blocks fast and put the first goal on the board but the girls fought back valiantly. Our attacking unit worked well together and created space and some shot opportunities. The first half finished 2-2.

A hard-fought second half saw some great hustle in the midfield and lots of ground balls.

The girls fell short at the last hurdle with the final score 7-4.

Hockey

U15 v King’s School Gloucester

With just 11 available players, the Rendcomb U15 side attempted to maintain their unbeaten start to the season away at King’s School Gloucester. Kings dominated the early exchanges but Rendcomb held firm for 29 of the first 30 minutes, until with the last attack of the half, King's scored the first goal to make it 1-0 at the break.

Rendcomb started the 2^nd half well and were rewarded when Luca P converted a short corner after excellent work from Joss B and Roman R. Goalkeeper Johnny P made some excellent saves to keep King’s at bay but when an injury meant we had to play the last 20 minutes with just 10 men, tiredness kicked in. King’s scored three goals to make the final score 4-1.  

This has been a good first half term of Hockey for the U15 side.  Congratulations go to Luca P for scoring six goals in three games.
