DT students continue Work towards Gold Award

Sixth Form students at Rendcomb College continued their work towards this year’s Engineering Education Scheme (EES) Design and Technology Challenge.
Continuing on from earlier in the academic year, the Sixth Form Design and Technology A Level students continued towards the EES competition with a two-day workshop at the University of Bath.
The trip saw them using advanced software to tackle the challenge set for them by professional engineers.
Head of Design and Technology at Rendcomb College, Marc Silverthorn, said: “The trip gave our students university level equipment and access to mentoring advice from our sponsoring company, TE Connectivity, to help them prototype a solution to their given challenge.”
While visiting the university, the students had the chance to talk to student ambassadors gaining an insight into university life and studying related subjects.
Mr Silverthorn added: “It was a very successful event and our students are on track to achieve both a Gold CREST and Gold Industrial Cadet award for all their hard work.”
