Prince of Wales’ former Business Manager offers finance advice to Rendcomb’s Sixth Form

Business and Economics A Level students at Rendcomb College took part in an insightful question and answer session with an industry leading finance professional last week.
The speaker, a former Business Ambassador for HRH Prince of Wales, spoke about a number of industries offering advice on how to go about pursuing a career in each sector. The session encouraged the students to think about topics that will impact them in the coming years.
With over 25 years’ experience at Director-level, he spoke at length about the need for a long-term view, advising students to resist being dragged into the short-sighted approach of much of the world and media.
A Level Business students have recently learnt about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as part of their course and they used this knowledge to quiz their guest, gaining a professional and experienced point of view from a leading figure in the CSR arena.
Dan Britton, Head of Business and Economics at Rendcomb College, said: “This session provided a great opportunity for students to learn from an expert in the field of corporate giving and charities. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic gave the students plenty to think about.”
As the speaker had played such a pivotal role within charities, an emphasis was put on students having a broader view of the world, especially from a business perspective, and seeing what they could do to make change, not just profit.
Following the session, a number of students had one-on-one conversations with the speaker, many asking about career paths, experience and the finance industry.
