Les Misérables set to impress at Rendcomb College

The renowned musical and blockbuster film, Les Griffin Centre TheatreMisérables, will become the first full scale show to be performed in the new Griffin Centre Theatre at Rendcomb College later this year.

All pupils in the Senior School aged 11 to 18 can audition to take part in the School Edition of the musicalmusical, with the first round of auditions taking place this weekend.
The 350-seat, state-of-the-art performance venue opened its doors in February and has already hosted a range of events such as the school’s Speech Day, classical music concerts and Shakespeare’s As You Like It.
Les Misérables will be the first musical held in the new theatre to utilise all the technical features the venue offers, including its high-specification lighting and sound equipment and the orchestra pit.

Based on the classic novel by Victor Hugo, the story follows Prisoner Jean Valjean, in 19th Century France, as he breaks parole to establish a new life for himself, while evading the grasp of Inspector Javert. The 2012 film featured a star cast including Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried in the title roles and won multiple Golden Globe, Oscar and BAFTA awards.
The musical features many well-known songs such as On My Own, One Day More, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables and I Dreamed a Dream.
