Things to do in Gloucestershire over Christmas 2021

Fun festive things for our pupils to do in their free time at boarding school
Christmas is such an exciting time, which is why it is so important for our pupils to make the most of it and really enjoy all that the local community has to offer. From festive pantomimes to Christmas markets, here are the best things to do in Gloucestershire this Christmas.
Festive Shows
There are many theatres and entertainment venues in Gloucestershire that put on festive shows for people to enjoy. The Barn Theatre in Cirencester whose show is Cinderella runs from 23rd November till 2nd January 2022. The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham and The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury both do pantomimes. This year, the shows will be Jack and the Beanstalk and King Arthur respectively. Cheltenham Town Hall is also putting on a number of festive events including a live jazz show on Wednesday 22 December 2021.
Ice Skating
Both Cheltenham and Gloucester have open-air ice rinks this Christmas. Cheltenham’s first-ever open-air ice rink is open from Thursday 18th November till Sunday 2nd January 2022 with prices starting at £8 not including a booking fee. Gloucester Quays’ open-air ice rink is open from Thursday 25th November till Monday 3rd January 2022 with tickets starting at £7.70.
Christmas Lights
Following popular demand, there’s a special festive opportunity to see Cotswold Farm Park at their Enchanted Light Trail again this Christmas. People can also follow a light trail through Westonbirt Arboretum to help reunite Father Christmas with his faithful reindeer after a storm has separated them. Alongside these displays, there are a number of Christmas light switch-ons that pupils can attend to get into the Christmas spirit. Sudeley Castle’s Spectacle of Light is also a fantastic Christmas outing.
Christmas Shopping & Markets
Cabot’s Circus in Bristol offers fantastic shopping opportunities all-year-round, particularly at Christmas. As do Cirencester, Cheltenham and Gloucester Quays. Featuring Christmas markets, local businesses and sustainable shopping, they are the perfect places to stock up on festive goods in time for the big day.
