Harvest Festival celebrated at Rendcomb

This year’s Harvest Festival took place on Tuesday, 3 October in St Peter’s Church, Rendcomb held by the school’s Chaplain, Bob Edy.

The Junior School and Senior School pupils brought in a wide variety of food gifts, all of which will be donated to two worthy causes; Cirencester Food Bank and CHYP. The Food Bank provide much needed food and support to local residents and Cirencester Housing for Young People (CHYP), have been working with vulnerable, young homeless people since 1986, providing stable housing and support for those in need.

Reverend Edy gave a light-hearted and engaging service to all year groups and explained the need for events such as the harvest festival and how much their donations will mean to those receiving them.

The levels of food donations given by the children were particularly applauded with gifts varying from home-grown marrows to mountains of tinned food.

After leading the service, Reverend Edy said: “I think it is important that children are given this opportunity to reflect on the meaning behind the Harvest Festival. The students may not understand just how much all their fantastic donations will mean to the less fortunate out there. We aim to work with each year group throughout the year but events like this are really special in bringing the school together.”
