Rendcomb Crowned Coding Champions
Rendcomb College’s Junior School pupils have been crowned Gloucestershire’s Coding Champions being ranked first place in the Discover Education Coding League Table.
Pupils in the Junior School, aged 4 to 11, over the past year have been learning how to code through the Discover Education programme uploading a number of Applications as they progress. This academic year alone, over 325,000 Applications have been shared on the site and among them, Rendcomb College Junior School has been recognised as the highest performing school in Gloucestershire by uploading the most Apps and progressing more quickly than any other school in the county.
Gavin Roberts, Head of Rendcomb College Junior School, said: “Being ranked first in Gloucestershire is a fantastic achievement for both the pupils and school as a whole. With the world evolving the in the way that it is, we recognise the importance of teaching our pupils valuable skills that will benefit them both now and well into the future.”
This achievement has meant the pupils and school are now in contention for a ‘Gold Status’ certificate with other schools around the country. At the end of the year, three schools will be awarded ‘Gold Status’ and one class within each school will be awarded a fantastic coding prize.

The Coding Course provides over 100 step-by-step lessons for teaching Block coding, Python and HTML allowing pupils to explore algorithms, sequences and variables, while developing skills like problem-solving, logical reasoning and debugging.
